Top 5 Benefits of Using Natural Health Products

  1. More Balanced Hormones

Our body is bombarded with chemical lab everyday. From the pesticides in our foods, chemicals in our beauty products, plastics that contain our food and chemicals in our cleaning products. We are exposed to hormone-like chemicals that disrupt our natural hormone production and communication system. Many chemicals act like estrogens in the bloodstream, causing everything from menstrual changes to low testosterone levels in men. Causing estrogen dominate conditions like PCOS, endometriosis uterine fibroids and infertility.

  2. Eco-friendly

Switching to natural clean and beauty products means its cleaner and easier on the environment. If you think about the fact that when you are washing dishes with a chemical product, it can release chemicals into the environment to cause direct damage, that truly makes you think again. Consider eco-friendly cleaning products as a great alternative to keep the Earth safe.

  3. Perfect for family members with allergies

If anyone in your family has a difficult time using specific laundry detergents, you can use natural cleaning detergents that are free from dyes and fragrances. This will often relieve a number of skin allergies and irritations through simple eco-friendly cleaning products that are gentle to the skin and the environment.

  4. Not tested on animals!

This is something important to take into consideration because you certainly don't want to be using a household cleaner that is cruel to animals. Eco-friendly cleaning products are often not animal tested, allowing you to clean just as efficiently with a good conscience. There is absolutely no reason to test harsh chemicals on animals with newer scientific methods available, so consider eco-friendly cleaning tools as a gentle and animal friendly choice.

The second step is knowing what to avoid and remove from our homes and ultimately our bodies. The following is an evolving list of chemicals to avoid.

Ingredients to Avoid

PARABENs:

Commonly used as a preservative to extend the shelf life products. They are widely used in cosmetics and body care. They can cause allergic reactions and skin irritations but more importantly have been proven to be hormone mimicking and can disrupt natural levels of estrogen. These synthetic substances have been linked to cancer, autoimmune disorders and lowered sperm counts. Very toxic. Safe, natural and great for the skin preservative alternatives are Rosemary Oleoresin Oil, Vitamin E & Neem Oil.

SULFATES/SULPHATES:

Sulfates are inexpensive synthetic detergents that are used as foaming agents in many products including shampoo, liquid soaps, and toothpaste. It is known to cause eye irritations, skin rashes, hair loss and many allergic reactions. Make sure you check ingredients for this extremely common ingredient and avoid it! FYI: Nezza Naturals does not use sulfates at all! We use all natural alternatives for shampoos and liquid soaps. You may notice that these products do not lather as much as products with SLS but will still have the same cleansing effect and will be much healthier.

*Also seen as SLS, SODIUM LAUREL, AMMONIUM LAURETH, AMMONIUM LAURYL, TEA LAURYL.

PETROCHEMICALS:

These are substances which are derived from petrochemicals. They are the base of many personal care products. Commonly found in lip balm, deodorant, shampoos, conditioners, lotions and baby care. These are shown to be estrogen mimicking substances which are linked to cancers, allergic reactions, and skin irritation. They do not add any skin care benefit, instead they clog pores and smother the skin. These substances also cause major environmental concern by polluting waters and harming marine life.

*Also seen as PETROLATUM, MINERAL OIL, PARAFFIN, PROPYLENE GLYCOL.

HOLLY OIL:

Commonly said to be derived from the 'Holly leaf', it is NOT A PLANT BASED OIL! It is a manmade petroleum based oil that is manufactured in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. The main ingredient is called 'Paraffinum liquidum' which is a fancy name for mineral oil. It is so popular because it is inexpensive and does not go rancid. When using Holly oil for massage it is like coating your body in plastic - it smothers and clogs pores, causes dermatitis and severe allergic reactions. Always use carrier oils that are 100% organic - the only exceptions are fractionated coconut oil and grapeseed oil.

*Also seen as PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM

ARTIFICIAL COLOURS:

If you come across a product that is bright red, green or blue you should be hesitant to put it on your skin or in your home. Synthetic colours are used in many personal care products to make them attractive but should be avoided entirely. You will recognize them on labels as codes such as FD&C Red No.6. These synthetic colourings have been tested in clinical settings and have been shown to be linked to allergies, general toxicity, childhood illnesses and various types of cancer. Red No.3 is a proven carcinogen and has been banned in the cosmetic industry because it may cause genetic damage.
